Here we are with 4 games of the regular season left to go. This stuff goes fast. For the most part, this has been the most organized season yet. Some of that is experience, some of it is realizing that not everything can be under control and letting it go. The new league (NYFL) has made some of it better, but there is something more important than that. I am a firm believer that wherever 3 or more parents gather (including myself) there will be politics. Our board made a firm commitment coming in to this season, that if it did not benefit the kids, it was of no importance. That isn't to say that we have wiped out all problems and concerns. Actually we are far from it. I just find it easier to ask the question when a problem arises.
This Golf Tournament is my biggest concern at the moment. It is not going as planned and yet the kids need new gear next year, so it is worth the commitment. For those who haven't heard all the rumors, it is extremely expensive to run a league. We still owe a significant amount of money from our initial season. Then you have league fees, insurance, gear that was lost, stolen or damaged. The cost of playing at Cosumnes River College alone is enough to keep me up at night. And yet, when I think that these kids have something better to focus on than running around, getting high or worse, I am proud to say I am part of an organization who puts the kids first and will figure out the finances later.
We are going against the Lodi Jr Flames Red team this weekend. I don't mind telling you that I hope to really make a great showing against this team. Usually I am just happy the kids are playing, win or lose. At the beginning of this year we lost a player to recruitment by this team. We struggle all year to make sure we get enough players to fill a squad. This particularly hurt because these parents were very involved in our league. So please..say a little prayer with me. Please don't let any of our players be injured, may they all have a fun time, and can we please RULE THAT SCOREBOARD!!!
Thanks Channa |

I know this comment was awhile back but I just heard that it was on your blog. I was disturbed at the fact that you accused the Jr Flames of player recruitment. As a parent and volunteer of the Jr Flames I was present at the time that these parents showed up and asked if they could still register their child. They stated then that they were not happy with the coaches on his level or how practice was going. If they could not sign up they were going to quit period. As a matter of fact so many kids signed up they fielded 2 teams and could have fielded 3. Please make sure you have all of your facts before making such an accusation. They are a new team and have always been concerned with following the rules when many teams in this league follow only the rules they wish or if it suits them at the time.

Thank you to the Happy Jr Flames parent who took the time to read our site and felt the need to reply. You say I need to get my facts straight and I agree. I took the recruitment statement from the father himself. Perhaps it is unfair to say that the Jr Flames did the recruitment when it was only one coach in particular. This coach has approached at least one other family of ours and I don't blame him. These children are really good. I agree that you had more than enough children to field 3 teams. Our town is quite a bit smaller than Lodi. I am sure there is more talent to choose from there.
This father that told us about his son being recruited also happened to have signed up as a coach from the beginning of the season. I truly like this family and wish them well, but this is the second time I have heard of his disappointment in the coaching and I find it odd since he was one of the coaches. Thank you again for participating on our blog site.
